Prepare a Model for this Project's Model Wiki

The following is a basic listing of steps to prepare models for submission to this site: (I) Devise a hypothesis; figure out if it can be expressed in quantitative, testable terms If so, can equations be written to express the hypothesis more or less exactly? (II) If equations can be written to express your hypothesis, is the quantitative hypothesis used to provide model solutions that represent the data? If so, the model and data analysis can be published.

1. Availability on various UNIX platforms

The XSIM full distribution includes packages for four popular UNIX platforms: SunOS-4 and Solaris (SunOS-5) for sparc, IRIX for SGI, and Linux for Intel-PC (glibc version).

The XSIM distribution package contains the files for:

Standard installation:

1. Unpack the package:
	zcat XSIMmodels.src.tar.Z | tar xvf -

2. Change directory to models:
	cd models

3. Examine Makefile.global.in and modify the variables XSIMHOME
   and LIBPATH_NSR near the end of the file for the paths of 
   XSIM runtime library (libxsim.so) and NSR libraries (libnsr.a 
   libnsrutil.a, etc.).

	NSRlibraries.bin.SOLARIS.tar.Z
	NSRlibraries.bin.SUNOS.tar.Z
	NSRlibraries.bin.IRIX.tar.Z
	NSRlibraries.bin.LINUX.tar.Z

2. Unpack the NSR library package:

	zcat NSRlibraries.bin.PLATFORM.tar.Z | tar xvf -

   Note: replace PLATFORM above with SOLARIS, SUNOS, IRIX or LINUX.

3. Change directory to libnsr:

   	cd libnsr

   Follow the instructions in (3a) or (3b).

Note: Once your model has been assigned a number, DO NOT delete the modelnumber.txt from your model directory. You can change the name and any other aspect of the model but NOT the model number.
