3 Job Opportunities in medical modeling, computational biology and biostatistics at Eastern Virginia Medical School

Three job opportunities:

The Digital Patient Project Eastern Virginia Medical School

EVMS is recruiting for three positions in medical modeling, computational biology and biostatistics. The professionals recruited into this team will work with other faculty and staff in a consortium program focused on the development of a digital patient platform and analytic,  diagnostic  and therapeutic  applications.  This work is intended to expand upon the historical efforts to develop a virtual human based solely on physiological models. We seek applicants who have an understanding of the need to construct a contemporary platform through which a variety of types and sources of data and models can be aggregated, analyzed and deployed through applications that address health issues at both the individual patient and groups of patients levels. Data sources will range from the molecular to the neighborhoods and communities of interest that affect patient care. These positions are part of a partnership among EVMS,  ODU, Sentara Healthcare and the Hampton Roads Biomedical Research Consortium. Ideal candidates will have an understanding of the history and current status of work on physiological models, in silico approaches to diagnosis and treatment of patients and communities, on the concept of digital twinning, of the use of Al, the multi-modal analysis of health-related data aggregated in a very large data lake, and the development of multi-level models and simulations. Additional information can be  obtained and applications submitted to: combscd@evms.edu

1. Senior Research Associate in Computational Biology

SUMMARY

This position will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator

and should have the computational biology expertise and the analytic experience and skill set to contribute to the Digital Patient Project as well as an understanding of molecular biology, biochemistry and macromolecular analysis techniques. The development and analysis of multi-level data sets is required. Ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment and flexibility to work in a fast-paced team in a professional and pleasant manner is a necessity.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Master's Degree in bioinformatics or related field plus three (3) years' research experience is required. Ph.D. preferred.

Molecular biology and proteomics experience is required, but the most essential expertise is computational biology experience consistent with the attached scope of work for the Digital patient project. Expertise in the context of multi-level data sets and models will be an added advantage.

2. Senior Research Associate in Medical Modeling and Simulation

 SUMMARY

This position will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator

and should have medical and healthcare modeling and simulation expertise. The associate must have the analytic experience and skill sets to contribute to the Digital Patient Project as well as an understanding of multi-level modeling and simulation. Prior analysis of multi-level data sets is required. Ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment and flexibility to work in a fast-paced team in a professional and pleasant manner is a necessity.
