Compliant_bifurcating_bronchiole_compliant_alveoli

Model number
0124

This model represents a bifurcating compliant bronchiole with two compliant alveoli.

Description

This model represents a bifurcating compliant bronchiole with two compliant alveoli.
The resistance offered by bronchial wall to the flow of air is represented by the resistor
in the electrical circuit. The compliance of the bronchiole is represented by the capacitor.
All three bronchi have separate compliances which are represented by three individual
capacitors. The alveolar sac compliance is repsented by a capcitor. The alveolar sac changes
its volume as a function of inlet flow or pressure.

Equations

The equations for this model may be viewed by running the JSim model applet and clicking on the Source tab at the bottom left of JSim's Run Time graphical user interface. The equations are written in JSim's Mathematical Modeling Language (MML). See the Introduction to MML and the MML Reference Manual. Additional documentation for MML can be found by using the search option at the Physiome home page.
