Model number

Select a portion of an input file, smoothly interpolate it, calculate the forward Fourier Transform and the back Fourier Transform.

fig 1

Select a section of an input file and smoothly interpolate it with a different sampling rate. Compute the forward Fourier Transform and periodogram. Compute the back Fourier Transform using the Fourier coefficients. Compute the variance from both the Fourier coefficients and the time series. The project uses a JSim procedure to smoothly interpolate the data using sampling rate which may be different than the original rate. Note that this is not a fast Fourier Transfrom (FFT). Hence, there is no restriction on the number of points being transformed. Note that the periodogram is a biased estimator of the spectrum.

The equations for this model may be viewed by running the JSim model applet and clicking on the Source tab at the bottom left of JSim's Run Time graphical user interface. The equations are written in JSim's Mathematical Modeling Language (MML). See the Introduction to MML and the MML Reference Manual. Additional documentation for MML can be found by using the search option at the Physiome home page.
