2015 MSM Consortium Meeting - Theme 1

Return to the 2015 MSM Consortium Meeting Agenda

Theme 1 Goal: Share methods for increasing the scope and pace for transiting multiscale models into healthcare systems and devices to improve individualized healthcare

Charge to the speakers:

  1. As an introduction to the presentation, state:
    1. One scale-traversing methodological lesson learned.
    2. What approaches were tried and failed?
    3. What are the most challenging technical & scientific issues for successfully achieving requirements (for success)?
  2. Briefly describe one model use scenario for which requirements for mechanisms that traverse multiple scales (as you are defining them) during execution is a necessary and essential success story prerequisite.
  3. Briefly characterize, from a healthcare perspective, how & why your MSM work is—or is on a path to become—a success story.
  4. If not already addressed, what are your strategies for building credibility for the scenario in (2) and the implementations in (1)?

Panel Discussion:

Panelists

The panel will summarize and address the Theme 1 Goal along with the following three objectives.

  • Identify model use “success story” characteristics for healthcare and research
  • Building on lessons learned, begin framing requirements for increased, more expeditious application of M&S for improved healthcare and research
  • Identify and characterize the source, evolution and criteria of (successful/failed) methods and models
