NSF/NIH/BMBF/ANR/BSF/NICT Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience (CRCNS)

The Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience (CRCNS) participating agencies are pleased to announce the release of the program solicitation for 2018 through 2020 (NSF 18-501), now available at http://www.nsf.gov/crcns/.

The next proposal deadline will be JANUARY 5, 2018.

Two classes of proposals will be considered in response to this solicitation:
* RESEARCH PROPOSALS describing collaborative research projects, and
* DATA SHARING PROPOSALS to enable sharing of data and other resources.

Proposals for collaborations involving Japan are now supported through a new partnership with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology. In addition, please note that:
* Results from prior NSF, NIH, and/or CRCNS support MUST ADDRESS SHARING OF DATA, SOFTWARE, AND/OR OTHER RESOURCES.
* Letters of collaboration should be limited to the one-sentence format described in the instructions.

Proposals must be submitted in accordance with the revised NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 17-1). If you have not applied recently to NSF, please pay attention to recent changes to NSF guidelines (https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/policydocs/pappg17_1/sigchanges.jsp) and compliance checking (http://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/autocompliance.jsp), including required content on Broader Impacts in both the project summary and the project description (https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/policydocs/pappg17_1/pappg_2.jsp#IIC2bhttps://www.nsf.gov/pubs/policydocs/pappg17_1/pappg_2.jsp#IIC2d). The 5pm deadline is strictly enforced. Proposals submitted at 5:00:01 will not be accepted.

Domestic and international projects will be considered. As detailed in the solicitation, international components of collaborative projects may be funded in parallel by the participating agencies. Opportunities for parallel funding are available for bilateral and multilateral proposals. Please see the solicitation for country-specific instructions and limitations.

Broad distribution of this announcement is encouraged.
